Call me by your name by Andre Aciman

Call me by your name by Andre Aciman

Today, I wanted to write a lot of things and none of it was a book review. Well, may be this is not even a review. It’s just me talking.

I have always felt that to write a beautiful book you need to be brutally honest. You should be honest about how you feel physically, mentally and for me, that is the hardest thing to do. So may be I will never become a beautiful writer, but I think I would keep on finding such amazing reads and live with it in my head for days.

This book is love, lust, desire, passion and dreams at it’s best. It is so honest and raw that the vulnerability of each word scare me. It’s basically a poem written by two, friends first, lovers later and may be still in love years after, that life was split into before and after of that time – a summer, yours and mine – ours.

A love letter at times :

“If not later, when?”

“Call me by your name, I will call you by mine”

“I believe with every cell in my body that every cell in yours must not, must never die and if it does have to die, let it die inside my body”.

“He came. He left. Nothing else had changed. I had not changed. The world hadn’t changed. Yet nothing would be the same.”

“Cor cordium, heart of hearts. I’ve never said anything truer in my life to anyone”

“Are you happy you’re back?”

“Are you happy I’m back?”

“You know I am. More than I ought to be, perhaps.”

“Me too”.

Elio and Oliver would live in your hearts for long, their dreamy 3 day trip to Rome, the late nights, the talks, the back and forth bickering, the kisses, the music, the words and this beautiful poem of a book.

I personally enjoyed the book more than the movie. But both of it is too good.
